Consultation has concluded
The City of Lethbridge is working with Buy Social Canada to develop a Benefits-Driven Procurement (BDP) Strategy.
Benefits-driven procurement (also known as social procurement) is a means to build community capital by leveraging intentional benefits through Indigenous, social, local, and diverse procurement. Benefits-driven procurement will contribute to the City of Lethbridge’s vibrancy and well-being, ensuring that all individuals, families and communities have opportunities to participate in local economic development.
The Benefits-Driven Procurement Strategy development will engage local knowledge to contribute to the strategy design. The region’s Indigenous history, the evolution of the local economy from its agricultural roots, up to the current City economic, environmental, Indigenous, social and inclusion efforts will all shape this process. We look to the local business community, Indigenous community, social enterprises, non-profits and community members to shape the strategy to best meet the community’s goals and unique opportunities.
The Benefits-Driven Procurement engagement process will have two phases.
Phase 1 will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about benefits-driven procurement, provide feedback on the proposed social value objectives and priorities for the strategy, and help identify opportunities and challenges for social value in procurement.
Phase 2 will involve a review and feedback of the draft Benefits-Driven Procurement Policy and Framework.
A virtual Public Engagement Session will be held on January 31, 2022 from 3 - 4PM. Click here to register.
A session specifically focused on Indigenous procurement will be held on January 27, 2022 from 4 - 6PM. If you are interested in attending this session please contact one of the project managers listed above.
