Blue Carts

The City of Lethbridge collects garbage and recycling for over 34,000 households every week. City Council has also approved the introduction of a $5 per month residential organics program, with single-family homes set to receive a green cart in spring 2023.

Following several internal and external assessments, the City began the Cart Relocation Project (the Project) in 2017. The Project identified key neighborhood areas where it is now more efficient and safer to have waste bins collected from the street side, rather than from back lanes. Changing the collection location for these neighborhoods saves on direct collection costs, while also reducing financial liability for items such as snow and ice control in lanes, as well as premature lane degradation.

Since the start of the Project, approximately 3,800 households have been relocated to street side collection.

Now, the City wants to hear from you!

You are being asked to complete a short survey because your household is one of the residences that has moved from lane to street side pick-up. Please tell us how this project has impacted you, and your preferences moving forward.

The survey will be open from June 20 to July 24.

As a thank you for completing this survey, you can be entered to win one of three $100 Downtown Lethbridge gift cards.
