The next 20 years at the ENMAX Centre

As the ENMAX Centre nears 50 years of operation, the City of Lethbridge is embarking on a new Master Plan to envision the future of the City’s largest arena and entertainment space.

As work on this 20-year plan begins, the community is asked to give input on their experiences at the ENMAX Centre. Anyone wanting to talk with City staff and planners on the development of the Master Plan, and give their feedback, is invited to the in-person Community Conversation at the ENMAX Centre on Monday, October 23 from 3-7 p.m. An online survey is also available at https://getinvolvedlethbridge.ca/enmax-master-plan.

The ENMAX Centre, formerly the Canada Games Sportsplex, opened in September 1974, specifically to host the 1975 Canada Games. The facility is home to the Western Hockey League’s Lethbridge Hurricanes and hosts concerts, theatre productions, bull riding, multicultural events, national sporting events, banquets and more. Famous entertainers like Comedian Jerry Seinfeld have performed to sold-out crowds and mega musician, Elton John graced the ENMAX Centre stage in 2012.

A $33.7 million renovations to the building was completed in 2012 and included a 41,000 square foot expansion. This project added 18 luxury suites, improved the concessions and washrooms and created a new press box and restaurant/lounge overlooking the ice.

As the needs of the community grow and evolve, so do the uses of the ENMAX Centre. Give your thoughts and help shape the next 20 years for this awesome community facility.

The Community Conversation on October 23 is an in-person community engagement event that will feature more than 40 City projects. As the host of this event, the ENMAX Centre will offer free public skating and concession samples to all participants. Come learn about all the great things happening in Lethbridge and be sure to give your feedback on the future of the ENMAX Centre.
