Building Safer Communities Fund
Through Public Safety Canada, the City of Lethbridge received $665,618 from the Building Safer Communities Fund. The purpose of the grant is to evaluate and address gang and gun violence through preventative measures that are youth focused. The City will be completing a needs assessment to better understand how gang and gun violence happen in our community. The assessment provides Lethbridge the opportunity to:
- advance in community-based preventative strategies to address current needs within the community,
- identify gaps in services,
- identify risk factors contributing to gang/gun violence,
- help develop preventative solutions.
This funding supports the City and Lethbridge Police Service in developing community-based preventative initiatives to support youth in our community.
