The City of Lethbridge is replacing the playground at Lafayette Park, located at 10 Lafayette Blvd West.

This project includes the lifecycle replacement of the playground equipment and surfacing. New equipment helps ensure we are compliant with current CSA standards for playground safety and will be designed for children aged 18 months to 5 years. The new inclusive playground will feature accessible components and artificial turf surfacing to better accommodate users of all abilities.

This will be the first playground in Lethbridge to incorporate artificial turf. Artificial turf in playgrounds offers several benefits:

  • Safety: Provides a soft, cushioned surface that reduces the risk of injuries from falls.
  • Low Maintenance: Requires less maintenance than traditional surfaces.
  • Durability: Withstands heavy foot traffic and various weather conditions.
  • Provides a sensory element to the playground.a

Construction is scheduled to be completed by mid-June 2026, weather permitting.

We invite you to help us choose the colour scheme of this playground. Vote using the survey below by February 27, 2026.
