Recreation and Culture Master Plan
Consultation has concluded
THANK YOU Lethbridge for your participation in the Recreation and Culture Master Planning process. 2,899 households participated in the Household Questionnaire and over 56 community groups completed the Community Group questionnaire. We also heard from community stakeholders and fee for service partners through guided sessions. Thanks to your participation we were able to meet our master plan objectives of:
- Assess the current state of recreation and culture in the community to get a sense of what's changed since the last Master Plan in 2013, identify new trends and resident activity preferences, and identify potential needs
- Provide City Council and the Recreation and Culture department with a point of reference that can guide focus areas and priorities over the next 10 years.
- Establish priorities for the City's investment in recreation and culture.
- Identify opportunities to optimize service delivery, partnerships, and other key elements of recreation and culture.
The Recreation and Culture Master Plan documents can be found in the document library to the right. Finalization of these documents is not the final step in our journey. Now it is time to start work on the strategic directions that the master plan outlines.
- Ensure the public recreation and culture foundations are understood and incorporated into decision making and action of the Recreation and Culture business unit.
- Ensure the delivery framework and associated tools are used to determine the best way to deliver recreation and culture services and to manage service delivery.
- Ensure that the Business Unit has the skillsets and capacity required to deliver necessary functions.
- Ensure partnerships are deployed and managed appropriately and partners are supported to achieve mutual goals and aspirations.
- Ensure the community is educated about recreation and culture opportunities, benefits and initiatives that reduce barriers.
- Ensure the Business Unit is a leader in the provision of recreation and culture in Lethbridge.
- Ensure necessary vision and strategic direction is in place to help all recreation and culture stakeholders achieve success.
- Promote and support the identification of relevant recreation and culture preferences, needs, and trends and ensure effort is invested in meeting them.
- Use the infrastructure assessment and prioritization tools, next steps and considerations outlined to manage recreation and culture infrastructure.
