The City of Lethbridge is preparing a Transportation Master Plan to help guide transportation growth in the city over the next 10 to 20 years. Since the previous Transportation Master Plan in 2012, the population of the City of Lethbridge has grown to over 100,000 people from 89,000 and a new Transportation Master Plan is required to help shape the City’s next steps forward.
Since 2012, the world has changed. With autonomous vehicles and ride-sharing companies, new strategies in multi-modal planning and design and a greater focus on building a transportation system that is inclusive, the City is rethinking its mobility from new perspectives.
The Transportation Master Plan seeks to develop an integrated transportation system that builds upon the existing transportation infrastructure, to promote economic vitality and improve the quality of life for residents and visitors.
Together with the plans and studies completed since the previous Transportation Master Plan including the updated Municipal Development Plan and the Mobility and Accessibility Master Plan, this plan will incorporate the influences of changes to travel patterns and modal choices for each future horizon year analyzed and model a new strategy for the next chapter in the City’s future. Your participation and input into the new Transportation Master Plan will help integrate a diverse range of lenses to establish a resilient and forward-looking vision for Lethbridge’s transportation future.
Transportation Master Plan values and opportunities were identified by the public, stakeholders and Indigenous partners in Phases 1 and 2 of engagement. In this third phase, we want to hear from you to help us evaluate the proposed concepts and identify priorities. The answers to these questions will help guide the project priorities and final Transportation Master Plan recommendations.
