Animal Bylaw Review

Let’s ‘paws’ and talk about how we live alongside all creatures in our community. Share your thoughts on how we regulate animals in our city!

The City has a number of bylaws that look at how domestic and wild animals should be kept, some of these bylaws have not been reviewed in more than 20 years. In order to provide the community with a bylaw that is current and is based on best practices, Regulatory Services and Community Animal Services are:

• Reviewing the current bylaw; and
• Bringing forward recommendations for the drafting of a new amalgamated bylaw.

To ensure the new bylaw is reflective of the needs of the community, public engagement is needed to incorporate residents' and stakeholder feedback. The bylaw will come before Council in Q3 of 2024.
