The City of Lethbridge is beginning the process of updating the Bicycle Bylaw. Cycling is evolving and becoming a common form of transportation. To be relevant, the existing Bicycle Bylaw of 1986 needs to be updated to include:

  • Power assist bikes
  • Removal of bike license plate requirement
  • Interaction of bicycles and motor vehicles
  • Bicycle parking update
  • Abandoned bicycle removal process
  • Cycling infrastructure regulations
  • Penalties update

    Welcome to the first draft of the (potential) new Bicycle Bylaw! The objective of this project is to replace the existing 1986 Bicycle Bylaw with a bylaw better addressing the current state of cycling. Through the following survey questions we are asking for your input on the most important and specific definitions in this bylaw. We appreciate your thoughtful consideration.
