Fire Prevention Week takes place October 4 to 10, 2026, with the theme: Charge into Fire Safety!™

Lithium-ion batteries power our everyday electronics, including phones, laptops, power tools, and e-bikes. If not handled correctly, damaged, or overcharged, they can overheat and cause fires or explosions.

This international campaign theme, developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), focuses on safely using and disposing of lithium-ion batteries. The campaign encourages residents to take three simple steps: buy certified products, charge devices safely and recycle batteries responsibly.

  • Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) wants to better understand how residents use, charge and dispose of lithium-ion batteries and battery-powered devices.

This short survey will help us understand current safety practices, identify areas where more information may be helpful and guide future community education and outreach.

The survey takes less than two minutes to complete. Thank you for helping us make fire prevention education more relevant and effective for our community.
